PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT ALICANTE

Currency:

Banks: Banks open from 8:30 to 14:00 / 14:30 approximately. In some cases, some banks remain opened during the afternoon but this is not common. You can exchange money both in banks and airports.

It is probable that, in touristic areas, such as the Harbour, the Center or the Madera route, the shops have different opening times as, for example, they are allowed to be opened on Sunday.

Holidays:

1st and 6th of January, 19th of March, 1st of May, 15th of August, 9th of October, 1st of November, 6th, 8th and 25th of December. 

Street Markets:

Traditional street markets take place once a week and they are very varied: from traditional fish markets and food markets to flower markets or flea markets. For more information you can check “Shopping” section in Vive Zone.

Tax Free:

All foreigners citizens not residing in a European Union country who spend more that 90,15 Euros are entitled to a Value Added Tax (VAT) refund on their purchases in Spain.

The European Health Insurance Card is required to have free access in public health centers and hospitals.
