LOS ALCÁZARES
Los Alcázares is a municipality of the Region of Murcia. It is located on the edge of the Mar Menor, which is known for its warm and medicinal waters. The name of Los Alcazares comes from the history palaces that the Arab build by the coast.
This is a perfect place for the nautical sports' lovers. You can enjoy them on the 7 kilometres of beaches such as Playa Las Salinas, Playa de los Narejos, Playa de las Palmeras, Playa del Espejo, Playa de Manzanares, Playa de Carrión and Playa de la Concha. But Los Alcazares is not just sea, you can also enjoy the natural places as Calblanque, the Playa de la Hita or Las Salinas de San Pedro (San Pedro's Saltworks), where the sunset is amazing. You can blend sports and culture on the golf course La Serena and visit the famous Torre del Rame.
Los Alcazares offers a great variety of activities, especially sports. The Mar Menor is one of the best regatta fields. One thing you can not miss are the local festivities, where you can have fun on the carnival or the international orchard and sea week.The town's population increases on the vacation, from 18000 citizens to 100000, who choose this turistic location to spent their holidays to enjoy the good temperature, the sun and the people's simpathy.
The seafront will take you to each one of the beaches and you can take a pause to rest on one of the restaurant, bar or cafe right on the seashore. The gastronomy here is a combination of simplicity, flavour and variety, and it is especially bound to the Huerta Murciana. The Caldero is the most famous plate in Los Alcazares and it consist on rice with fish and seafood. Los Alcazares has a fishing tradition therefor a fish dish is always a good choice. If you are looking for something sweet the fruit, the pastel de Cierva or the tocino de cielo are the most known deserts.
The conection between beaches and the closeness to Murcia and Cartagena bring to Los Alcazares a good comunication with the places of interest of the Region and also with the rest of the country through the Airports (San Javier and Alicante, 5Km and 75Km respectively).
