FISHING ZONES IN MOTRIL
Fishing boats unloading at the port of Motril, usually fish in several nearby areas, such as, the areas adjacent to the provinces of Malaga, Granada and Almeria, Alboran Sea, dried, and sometimes Morocco.
The main fishing grounds where fish is extracted in Motril is the Alboran Sea, which is the westernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea, bordered on the north by the coast of mainland Spain, and the south by the African coast of Morocco, Ceuta, Melilla, Alhucemas and Vélez de la Gomera.
The main species landed in the port of Motril are jacks, southern mackerel, whiting, menhaden, sardine, hake, octopus, monkfish, forkbeards, red mullet, lobster, shrimp and white shrimp.
